Cultus Lake Provincial Park - Maple Bay - June 18-20

On Dave's birthday we headed out after work and school for a short little get away with Rob and Marnie VanEgmond to Cultus Lake. Last year we spontaneously planned a little camping trip to Deception Pass and have now decided this has to be a yearly tradition. It seems like too short of a time to go camping but once we are there it feels like we are miles away and the weekend seems to be much longer too. You can't leave June out of the camping holidays....gotta go every month of the summer time!
We stayed on sites 21a and b, the same ones we did 2 years ago for the September long weekend. We really enjoyed that site as it's a double one, it's near the path to the beach and best of all it's close to the creek the kids love to explore in!
Here they are, our explorers and bug catchers!

Jake and Jordyn are found in this crouching position numerous times! They sit there for hours, watching and chatting! It seems so useless watching them sometimes but they sure find the most interesting creatures. Once they found a bug that looked like a rock. I guess if you sit there long enough not only do the rocks look like they are moving, they actually do!

The kids we took along for amusement!

Nicole and Jordyn

Matthew and Jake

Brooklyn and Dylan

The weather wasn't the greatest....not too warm but we had to go to the beach anyway. The kids really wanted to swim. Dave and Rob went golfing for the Saturday morning while Marnie and I read and watched the kids playing. When the guys got back, we had some lunch and headed for the chilly beach.

These crazy kids went in!

They were pretty cold when they got out, but I think they thought it was worth it. Nicole actually spent the most time in the water. She was in there most of the time.

Matthew was content to walk with a net, trying to catch some fish. He's not the swimmer that the other 2 are.

Nicole couldn't handle it that Jordyn wasn't jumping in so she thought she should take things into her own hands and shove her in.

Brooklyn and Dylan really liked to play in the water too.

Matthew continued to avoid the water and started digging to China.

Later that evening the kids watched a movie on Nicole's bed. All cuddled up together!

There was lots of colouring done too.

The boys....Matthew, Dylan and Jake
The girls....Nicole, Brooklyn and Jordyn

All 6 of them!

There was a great log to jump off of. The boys clambered up there no problem and jumped right back off, time after time.

Nicole didn't want to be outdone....but she was. She got scared and needed Dad to rescue her.

That's it, the last picture taken as we were rolling out and heading back home after another very fun and relaxing camping trip.

No flowers this time, just a leaf!
