Niagara Falls
December 27-28, 2012

When we were planning our trip to Ontario we really wanted to include some sort of touristy outing.  The kids had never been to Niagara Falls so we thought this was the time to do it.  I was excited to go as well as I had never, in all the times I have been to the Falls, ever been there in the winter.  I had also never seen the lights they put onto the falls.  It was beautiful, breath taking and fascinating.  The kids were super impressed.    Of course they had quite the experience in Niagara Falls.  We had planned on going to Henry and Julia's and then one of the days going for a day trip to the Falls but they had a different idea in mind.  They felt that if we were going to go to the Falls we would have to stay there for a night too.  So off we went for a night at the Hilton Hotel in a room on the 40th floor overlooking the Niagara Falls!

Our room had a large tub which the kids could hardly wait to get into!
It was a nice big room that had 2 queen beds, one in a separate room and another in the main room with a pull out couch that Matthew claimed for his bed.  Nice view to wake up to!

The views from our room!
The hotel had a pool too.  The kids could hardly wait to get into that so before we had dinner and before we went to the Falls the kids had a swim in the pool.
Jake looks like he is going to do a belly flop but believe it or not he managed to pull this position into a dive.

Matthew and Megan at it again!
The slide was a high light for the kids too!
It was a long ride up to the 40th floor but it moved pretty fast.  The kids discovered the fun feeling when you jump every time the elevator starts and stops.  Sometimes the elevator would be full of people getting on and off on many of the floors below our room so they got a lot of jumping in!
We finally made it to see the Falls after a very yummy dinner.  We needed to go for a walk to walk that dinner off!  When we went to the Falls as kids I would always be terrified by my brother Eric as he would go so close to the edge and look over at the water rushing by.  I thought he would fall over, never to be seen again.  He was a pain in the butt but I never did want him to go over!  Now it was time for me to freak about my own dare devil kids as they leaned over too!

The town of Niagara Falls in the distance.

After the beauty and power of the Falls we went for a walk into town.  On our way we saw this sight.  The kids were very impressed with the huge Ferris wheel and could hardly contain themselves when they found out they were going to be going on it!
Niagara Falls is so commercialized.  It was fun to walk some of the streets to the wheel. It was so cold out but the walk was good and we warmed up.

In one of the Ferris wheel cars.  It was so high and we could see our hotel!

The next morning after breakfast and when we were all packed up and ready to go we went for one more walk  to see the Falls in the day light.  Now we could really see the ice and the thunderous water crashing over onto the rocks below.  Just as beautiful in the day light as at night!

We had to get the touristy pictures of the kids and a family picture at the Falls!

Nicole and her daddy!

Dave, this was supposed to be a nice family picture of Julia and Henry, don't mess it up!

Julia and Henry, thanks so much for our fabulous time in Niagara Falls....it will not be forgotten soon!
