Spoor Family Camping
Monck Provincial Park - Nicola Lake, Merrit, BC
June 30-July 5, 2015

It's Mom and Dad Spoor's 50th wedding anniversary this summer and they really wanted to go camping with the family again!  We found a weekend and a park and here we are.....

.....on our way to Monck Provincial Park on Nicola Lake near Merrit, BC!

Notice the time on the clock in the car....yes, that's 6:37AM and we are on our way, just about on highway 1!

See, even we can do early once in a blue moon!!!

The air conditioning in our car wasn't working and we wanted to beat the heat!  Yup, you knew there had to be a good reason for us to be randomly up early and travelling along THAT early in the morning!
I never, ever get tired of looking at the mountains!
Washroom break at the top of the Coquihalla!  Yes, that's mainly for me!
Yes, this is disgusting!  While driving along the road just before entering the park there were grasshoppers flying everywhere. Since the air conditioning in our car wasn't working we had our windows wide open.  They were closed really quickly when a few of these creatures flew into the car and landed on me!!  I tell you I was NOT impressed....first of all I do NOT like to be hot and secondly I do NOT like grasshoppers landing on me.  Dave and the kids thought it was really quite comical!  Brats!
Ahhhh....we made it!  This is our view for the week!  I'm standing on our site by the trailer.  Oh what a glorious view!
Still beautiful!
Oh my....so sincere... must have been quite the conversation or the wine.....
Cards by the beach with his Momma.  Dave and Mom both love a good game of Cribbage.

Dad must have read about 5 books...this was a sight we saw pretty much the whole time we were at the beach!
Karen and Paul had their boat and they were so kind as to take the kids for LOTS of tube rides!  They sure loved that!  Well the kids sure did....hopefully Paul and Karen did too!
Jake and Ethan, Nicole and Jenna....a foursome for sure this weekend!
Matthew was busy, busy, busy with his cousins too!
I think there's trouble brewing!
The kids played a lot of cards too!  It was great to see them bonding and spending the days together.
The beach zone we managed to snag every day!
Sun kissed!

Dave was out of pine cones at work.  He saw that there were plenty of Ponderosa Pine trees dropping their pine cones so he had the kids collecting them again!  We left with enough for the year for Dave and the kids had a bit of extra cash in their pockets too!  The kids would collect and then Dave would go through them to make sure they were all sell-able cones and then he would pay the kids for their time!
We, well Dave, set the hammock up between 2 trees on our site.  It was a popular hangout zone for these 2!
This picture really doesn't do the moon and it's reflection justice....it was beautiful!
More games!
More Nicole games!  How high can you stack the breakfast pancake toppings before they come crashing down?
I love this picture because Mom's being a pest, Matt probably pushed Mom into being a pest and Elizabeth and Matthew are thinking this is pretty funny to see Oma picking on Uncle Matt!
These picnic table covers were great.  We usually managed to secure 2 of them and they were most often in use with some sort of card game!
Chillin' in the warm water!  It was SO hot out and we spent a LOT of time in the water cooling off.

I might have taken a few pictures.
Matthew didn't go behind the boat but he sure took every opportunity to get into it...usually right beside whoever was driving the boat!
Dave and Mom up to something....again!
More cooling down and catching up time!
Rich & Carolyn and Brian & Wendi brought some little kayaks. Matthew loved paddling on them and spent hours on them.  Matt and I took 4 of the kids and tried to cross the lake but by the time we got half way we realized it was going to take much too long for us to make it all the way!  Oh well, it was a fun long swim for Matt and I!
I love happy!
Fishing for mini fish!
...and more cards!
Will they all fit?
Yes they do!
Lots and lots of trouble all in one hammock!

Oh, he didn't read the whole time....sometimes he slept!
Hmmm....double trouble.

It was so fun to see these 4 bonding again.  When they were little they spent so much time together....now they don't see each other much but when they do they have a riot together!
This poor deer wandered into the beach area but once there didn't know how to get away fast enough.
Matthew chillin' with Uncle Paul.
Till next year....
