Happy Birthday Matthew....Again?
October 8, 2015

We FINALLY did Matthew's birthday party.  It's hard to find a day to do a party after school starts. Hockey kind of takes up a lot of Friday and Saturday evenings.  But we finally managed to find a day so Matthew could have his school friends over.  His birthday seems to go on forever every year!  Lucky kid!  We're more often than not gone for his actual birthday and when we get back from holidays I usually have the hustle and bustle of getting ready for school.  But to try coordinate a September birthday is a challenge.  Most of the boys in his class play hockey and they are generally all on different teams so the schedule is ridiculous to try to manoeuvre through. This year it took until October for the party to finally happen.

The cake...
12 candles!
"Matthew, your mom makes THE BEST cakes EVER!!"

Oh yeah!  We rock in the cake department!

A cake loaded with candy!  How much better can it get than that!

Four of the boys got together to get a gift.
A pogo stick.  Seems to be the gift of the year as that's what most of these boys got from each other.

This year, like always, Matthew requests to have a party at our house.  Just stay home and do stuff at home like play hockey or soccer or something like that.  That's easy.

But this year I organized a little Amazing Race for the boys.  Then it was dinner time and then off to the bowling lanes for a quick game of crazy bowl.  From there the boys were picked up by their parents.
Easiest party EVER!!

First activity for the Amazing Race.... make an elephant with marshmallows and toothpicks.  This was my example!
We had 3 teams of 3 boys and off they were to the various activities planned.
Well....it's together....
Hockey shootout!
Complete a maze made by Jake.
Make a paper airplane....
...and fly it across the soccer field across the road.
The winners!
Trying out the new pogo stick.
Pizza and pop for dinner.  Easy peasy!

Then it was off to the bowling lanes.

Adam, Zeb, Kaleb, Justus, Levi, Eric, Luke, Quinton and Matthew.
Our nerdy 12 year old!

Well, crazy bowl is not his thing...
They had a bit of time before their parents came to pick them up so I gave each of them a quarter and told them to keep busy...

And that's it....another party done!
