Camping - August 3-15, 2011

The summer has finally arrived and boy are we glad it waited for us to go on holidays! The sun is shining and we are ready to go camping. Of course we didn't get an early start, why stress out and leave early when you can sleep in a bit and head out at a reasonable time of 10:00AM! If only we were early morning people because we would have beat this:

Pinantan Lake - August 3-5, 2011

Our first destination during our time away was to a little lake resort called Pinantan Lake Resort. We had no idea what to expect as all we had seen were pictures on the Internet while searching for a place to stay near Kamloops. Dave decided to leave a few days early so he could do some sales in the Kamloops area. We had to find a place near Kamloops and this place was the best looking one we saw online. How bad could it be for 2 nights? We were pleasantly surprised to find a little gem of a place to stay. It was a full hook up very small park on a quaint little property along the shores of Pinantan Lake. Sounds like a retreat right? Well, it actually was and I think we would even go back one day. The sites were very tiny and there weren't very many of them but it didn't matter. No one was in the trailer right next to us and the people on the other side were very pleasant and not around much. The lake was clear and clean. The beach was small but had bit of sand, the water had a dock with a slide and we could lounge on the grass hill right next to the beach. There were loon calls as soon as we stepped out of the truck and we felt we were far, far away. There was a lot for the kids to do and it was safe to let them go and explore. They made friends with the few other kids staying in the campground or in one of the 7 cabins. All in all we had a lot of fun with just our little family. There is something about camping with just ourselves that's very relaxing and fun. It's great to be with others but we really enjoy some time to ourselves too. Dave went to work on Thursday while the kids and I spent some time at the beach. The dock was fun and the kids were allowed to use another campers floating toys yet too.
