Vancouver Olympic Centre
We were caught up in the Olympic fever and managed to find some face value tickets for curling so Dave and I went to see the Canadian Women play...along with 3 other games. This time we drove right to the venue, parked about 2 blocks away, instead of taking the Sky train in. We caught the first period of the Men's hockey game while we ate an early dinner, glad we didn't miss that but we would have to watch the highlights on TV later when we got home.
We passed through the screening station very easily but when we crossed over to the other side and saw the venue and the line up outside we were very glad the rain had stopped. Even though the line was huge we filed through fairly quickly.
Just after the athletes came out a pipe/drum band came out. Suited the sport.
Let the game begin! It was interesting watching curling at the event. It's a good thing we had watched it a bit on TV and even played a game this past winter because otherwise it would have been difficult to follow.
The news had been saying that the crowds at the curling venue were crazy! Well, we agree now that we have been there. The roar of the crowd and the stomping on the bleachers was VERY loud and fun! There was one particular fan that was extra crazy! He kept trying to get Cheryl Bernard's attention and finally at the end of the game he did! Her reaction was fun too. He was mostly in our area but we did see him popping up in all the different entrances! Crazy guy but fun and he sure got the crowd going.
Yeah! Canada won!
The final score 7-3 Canada vs Russia

I was thinking the crowd was crazy because you guys were there! How cool to be able to do that. I love watching curling.
