Stave Lake Power House - June 5, 2009

Jake's class went to Stave Lake Power House for a field trip the day after Nicole's trip to Vancouver. I hadn't been on any of Jake's trips this year but finally this one I could make it. We had a 2 hour tour of the power house which was quite interesting, just a little long, and then we had a picnic in the park for lunch. Hot dogs and chips! Yumm! The weather was once again beautiful, perfect for a field trip and a picnic in the park.

Our tour began with a little movie and then we moved on to some hands on experiments. The hands on was fun and the kids quite enjoyed that.

We had a little presentation about electricity and even got to see/hear the power of electricity.

The actual plant was huge. Interesting to see the turbines and other stuff...I can't remember all the technical names. The dam was rebuilt in a newer location just up from this one. We saw the old tube/pipes that the water ran through up close.

Jake's class.

The first electric car...on it's way to a show.

Do you think he can lift the 2 man wrench by himself?...yes he can!
