We had a busy fall and wanted a quiet New Years Eve this year so that is what we did. We had Rob & Marnie, Wes and Rod & Linda over for a fun evening of games, food and pretty yummy drinks. The kids wanted to play Apples to Apples so we did.
This was the first year that we had the kids stay up for the night. They thought they were going to stay up ALL night and not go to bed. They were a bit disappointed when we told them that we didn't stay up all night and they would be going to bed at some point. Matthew was the first to crash.....other than Brooklyn, Dylan and Alexis. He made it to 1:30 and fell asleep on the floor downstairs. The kids watched movies and we played some more games upstairs.
Rod and Linda left somewhere around 1:30 when we put the rest of the kids to bed but then we just had to play one more game. Settlers. Settlers is our game. Rob & Marnie, Wes and Dave & I have been playing games throughout the year. For each game we put money into a pot. Whoever wins doesn't have to pay but the rest of us losers each put $2 in the pot. When we have enough money we us it to pay for a yummy Keg dinner, the tip and the babysitter! It's a fun time even though we bug each other mercilessly. We thought playing a game of Settlers was a great way to bring in the new year! For those of you who are curious....Wes won!
