Bay View State Park
June 8-10

Our annual camping trip to make June not feel left out in the camping department.  We camp in May, and generally in July and August so we cannot leave June out.  This little 'tradition' was started a few years ago and we always go with Rob and Marnie.  It always seems that a short 2 night weekend is a lot of work to pack up to go camping but when we arrive at the park it's the most relaxing time ever and we feel like it's been a longer weekend by the time we get back home.
We have gone to many different places for this weekend and this year was a new destination too.  We chose Bay View State Park which is on the way to Deception Pass.  It's really quite close to home.  It would have been a hop, skip and a jump of a drive had we not taken firewood across the border, or rather tried to.  We were under the assumption that we could take wood as long as it didn't have bark.  Wrong assumption.  It caused us to have an hour added to our drive.  Never, ever take firewood across unless it's mill ends.  Then you should be fine but...........you never know!
Our sites were quite small but they worked.  We were in a loop where everyone faces a large grass field.
Brooklyn hanging out in the grassy field.
Dylan biked and biked and biked and......  The road way was paved and he whipped around and around the loop.  Perfect biking spot for smaller kids!
Jake, Jordyn and Nicole loved heading out to the muddy bay to explore but they sure came back dirty every time!  Good thing we had water and power hookups so they could wash off.
They found crabs.  Not big enough to eat but great entertainment for these 3 adventure seekers.

Jake and Jordyn have been found in this position year after year.  They find something interesting, squat down together and have many a conversation about what they have found and more!

The boys....

The view of the bay from the park.  The beach was close enough to walk to.
It's crooked but still kind of pretty.

Brooklyn really likes Jake!

Another crooked one.

We walked along the beach and found this stairway up the bluff.  It was a bit wobbly but perfectly safe.
At the top of the stairway there was a large culvert walkway under the road.  This would be a great photo shoot spot!
The view from the top.  The tide was out and you could walk for a very long way but the bay was very, very muddy.

At the top of the stairway, a short little stroll along the path, we came upon this aquarium.
Dave and Rob....don't get photos of them too often.

Inside there were lots of cool and interesting things to see and learn about! And to top it all off, it was FREE!

Oops, this one is sideways but it's still dinner just the same.  I saw these prawns and thought that we should have some for dinner!
Dave and Nicole........
Daddy's little girl.  She's lucky because she can always be daddy's little girl and not have to share him with a sister!

Brooklyn fell and skinned her knee.  It wasn't really that bad but she sure thought it was.  Cried and cried.  Maybe a little bit tired?
Matthew and Dylan digging to China.
That's Jake, Nicole and Jordyn in the distance.  They would be gone for hours.  We had to give them a time to be back at the campsite or they would probably have stayed there!
Yes, my feet.  Rob thought I was weird for taking a picture of my feet by I don't care.  He thought I should take it of Dave's feet instead but I think my feet are much better looking than Dave's.

Almost there, to China that is.

See.....muddy and dirty!
They were up to their crotches in mud! They would sink down and down!

Brooklyn and Marnie having a snooze after Brooklyn's tragic knee accident.
She's a little birdie all wrapped up in her blanket.
Oh, the mud!

The sites were so small we had to have a very tiny fire so the sparks wouldn't hit the awning.  You can't go camping and not have a smore or 4!
And that's it.  I would love to go back to this park in the future!  Lots to do and it's a great place for the older kids to have some great adventures.
