Curling - December 12, 2009
We have the coolest Homegroup in town....we went curling for our Christmas social and boy was it fun. We headed out to the George Preston Curling Rink for 7:00PM only to find out they wouldn't have any sheets of ice for us until 9:00. Well, they did have one sheet for 7 but thought maybe we shouldn't have it since this time was allotted to a league and we might cause trouble and have to be kicked off. Did someone give them the inside scoop that we are a bit rowdy at times? There was a bit of a lounge up top so we headed there, had a drink and a snack and waited the time out. It gave us a chance to plan our strategies and brush up on our techniques. Ha! We just socialized and watch the league do their thing. At 9:15 we were granted some sheets and off we went...terrorizing the ice for a couple of hours. It was SO MUCH FUN! and I would love to do it again sometime. The first hour was a bit frustrating, it was hard to get the technique and keep balance on the ice but we go the hang of it and finished off with an impressive last hour. The plan had originally been to curl for a couple of hours and then come to our house for desserts but since we started so late only a few could come for a bit. That's okay, we had lots of dessert to enjoy over the Christmas holidays that way.
