An Exciting Day!
September 14, 2010

Now for the big stuff. Bert Rolleman was here bright and early setting up some scaffolding along the exterior wall where the push out was to go. He was going to be putting a big hole into our wall today! and closing up the door that was originally behind our fridge. This would be exciting. The scaffolding was exciting enough for the kids let along a big hole in the wall. Also some electrical would be getting done this week - hopefully most of it.

We went off to work and school and this is what we came home to!

This was also the week that we had to make some big decisions. We had originally planned to have the hard wood that we would have upstairs follow through down the stairs and onto the landing area on the concrete floor downstairs. We were heavily advised not to put the hardwood on the concrete as we would need to have a sub floor anchored into our 40 year old concrete. This could cause the concrete to crack and even shatter so we decided to put tile down there instead. Because it's a cold concrete floor we also thought it a good idea to put some radiant heating under the tile. Also we had a call from our counter guy. He told us the counter we had chosen would not be coming in as there were imperfections that they haven't been able to get rid of so they are not going to be carrying that particular colour. We were going to have to choose a different one. It's a good thing I only work mornings as I could meet Dave that afternoon to pick out a new colour. We managed to find something very similar, almost the same, as what we had originally picked out. All that on the first day of our rebuild!
